52 Week Project

As a follow-up project to the 366, I bring you Call The Shot.

The way this works is that every Sunday, I will pick from the (hopefully ever growing) list of suggestions from the people following the project. If there are no suggestions or I have an idea in mind, I’ll pick my own. From there, I’ll have one week from Sunday to take the picture, modify it, and continually shoot it until I get it right. On the next Sunday I’ll post the photo along with the next week’s call.

Week 1: Theme was “Inside Looking Out.”

Welcome to the Roelke washing machine.

Week 2: Theme was “Hot.”

Not only have I not shot a photo that actually represents hot, I’ve pretty much done exactly what the project is about not doing. Which is waiting until the very last second to shoot a photo. I got lazy at the beginning of the week and just thought I could get away with this one being hot enough. I just ran around in my room for 20 minutes trying to pull something together, but I already realized how 366-like the shot was going to be.

I’ll be happy that I actually like the shot, whether or not it’s “hot.” But this is still a huge wake up call for the rest of the project. Things should change.

It’s weird how I’m beating myself up so much over this when it’s something I’m not really doing for anybody but me.

Week 3: Call was “Tragedy.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ginger stood and watched, helpless. There was nothing they could do. They had paid their life’s savings, $9.99, to hire two children to make their home for them. They watched as the pieces came in, all nicely packaged in plastic wrap, as the house was constructed with white frosting. But now everything was gone and their was no way to stop the blaze.

Week 4: Call is “Frozen.”
